5th, 2009.
The SF/Bay Area African Dance and
Drum Festival will starts at Buchanan YMCA, located at 1530 Buchanan
St. San Francisco, CA 94115, directly across the street from historical
Japan Town. The beautiful facility is located between Webster &
Laguna Streets @ Geary Blvd. Muni bus stops (routes 38, 22, 24, 23)
are within one or two blocks walking distance with lots of street parking.
On Friday, November 6th,
Saturday, November 7th, and Sunday, November
8th, 2009, the festival Series continues at
the lovable and remarkable Landmark Building in San Francisco.

Who can attend the San Francisco African Dance and Drum festival? |
The San Francisco Dance and Drum festival is open to the public. All levels and backgrounds are welcome to attend
the festival; A fee of $13.75 to $15 allows you the privilege to take a dance or drum class. Everyone around the world is welcome, group; individuals,
artists and non-artists from any location can attend the festival.

you plane on taking. And we do our best in providing you
with all necessary information.
All children under 10 are admitted free. 11, 12, and 13 years of age 5-10$ sliding scale, no child turned away for lack of funds

If you are interested in vending during the festival, please let us know early. Indicate your preferred date and time for your coming.
What to wear? Spandex, T-shirt, and a lapa (a cloth wrapped around the hips) Wear very suitable loose clothing that would help you move freely while dancing.
You can dance barefoot or with sandals.
What to expect: Each class begins with warm-ups, stretches, and breakdown of dance movements...
Restrictions;
Taping: No Videos or Cameras allowed on the dance floor.
Do not record any dance classes.
And remember to shop till you drop
during the festival
Come for the Healing, Fun, Dance,
and Education.

around the dance floor.
. Leave valuable things at home
. Be sure to
attach your pause around your waist while you dance.
. Parents should keep an eye on
their children at all time, during and after dance classes.
All proceeds go to buying uniforms
and school supplies needed for young girls in 2009-2010 school year
in the poverty-stricken countries Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea.
