THIRD ANNUAL
SF MULTICULTURAL STAND UP COMEDY FESTIVAL

More than ten comics will converge on San Francisco for one night to create tons of laughter and mayhem courtesy of the inaugural SF MULTICULTURAL STAND-UP COMEDY FESTIVAL. Participating comics represent different nationalities and countries from around the world, including Africa, India, Trinidad and New Jersey (that's right, New Jersey). Many of the comics were born in the United States, some of the comics grew up in foreign countries, and almost all of them will be providing excellent comic representation as African-Americans, Mexican-Americans, Asian-Americans, and other cultural backgrounds. Proceeds from this event will go to organizations that provide school supplies for young refugee children in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and elsewhere around the world.

Sia Amma is out of Africa. She is a stand-up comedian, writer, dancer, and actress who is best known as Africa’s most outrageous, hysterical, and inspiring comedienne. She is well known for making fun of African and American cultures, relationships, life experiences, sexuality and, of course, herself. She has given presentations that combine humor and celebration that are refreshing, honest, and very informative about the issue of female circumcision, and she has drawn great reviews at major colleges, universities, and around the country. Sia Amma performs her stand-up comedy material three times a week at Our Little Comedy Club in San Francisco. Her newest presentation for mothers and daughters is called “What Mama Said About ‘Down There’.” She has done 30 guest appearances on numerous national radio shows, including KPFA three times, and has been seen on the Channel 2 evening news!!! She has been a keynote speaker and guest lecturer in schools in West Africa for five years now. Sia Amma can perform clean material or not-so-clean material for your event or family-friendly events. She has opened for many national acts, including Tim Lee and Mike Moto. This year she is the host of the San Francisco International Comedy Festival.

From a boy who refused to put a foot on stage to a man who has to be dragged off it, Samson's comedy has come a long way, in a short time. Originally from Mumbai, now a resident of San Francisco, he shares his reflections, observations and absurdities. Very likable both on and off stage, he will make you laugh till your organ for storing, diluting, and digesting food hurts. Often called "The Indian Seinfeld", he is the worlds only known Indian Jewish standup comedian.

He has performed at Clubs, Colleges & Corporations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington DC, Denver, Salt Lake City, and all over San Francisco Bay Area. Love him or love him, he is sure to make you laugh.

Mike Moto is out of Japan/Yugoslavia. He began his comedy career over a decade ago, in Berkeley. His first paying job was house comic at the Mabuhay Gardens, a combination Philipino restaurant and hardcore punk rock club. Every night, green-mohawked people would scream for his death, until his comedy prevailed. Armed with this experience, Mike Moto quickly became a favorite at the more conventional comedy clubs such as the Punchline and the Holy City Zoo. The demands of nightclub work soon forced him to abandon his studies at Berkeley, where he is still on leave of absence.

ROSS TURNER will represent Fatherland with blood and honor. He appears at clubs and casinos across The West. He has opened for Bobby Slayton (The Rat Pack, Ed Wood), Todd Barry (Comedy Central Presents), John Heffron (Last Comic Standing), Steven Kravitz (Nash Bridges), Orny Adams (David Letterman, Comedian), Jeff Dunham (Comedy Central, Hollywood Squares), and the great Robert Schimmel (HBO, Showtime and The Howard Stern Show). Ross looks forward to the day when he doesn’t have to list other people’s credits to impress you. Meanwhile, he can be seen regularly at all the San Francisco comedy clubs, Pepper Belly's Comedy Theater in Fairfield and this year at the San Francisco International Comedy Festival.

Thai Rivera: Latino is an Mexican Americans. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Thai Rivera was raised in the smaller, more rural town of Casa Grande, Arizona. When he was 19, he moved to Las Vegas where he lived the true Las Vegas party lifestyle. Tired of the fast pace of Vegas, he moved back to Phoenix and settled into a life of boring office work. He quickly tired of the life as a cubicle dweller, but when he found his way to the local comedy stage, he knew he'd never be bored again. After becoming a finalist in a local comedy contest, he knew it was time to move to a city where he could hone his act. He quickly moved to L.A. where he has become a favorite with audiences, bookers, and his fellow comics. Thai is a Laugh Factory regular. Look for him in the upcoming movie Dirty Jokes as well as comedy venues and college campuses all over the country. Thai Rivera's blend of sarcasm, edge, and charm is the can't-miss recipe for a night full of laughter.
